Responsible interpretation, by design
Where the science stops is as important as what it shows. We state the boundaries of microbiome interpretation plainly — associations not causation, confidence not certainty, context not diagnosis.
Credibility is won at the edges of a claim. VAMS BIOME reports sequencing-derived microbial context and frames it with confidence indicators and reference-cohort comparison — never as a diagnosis, treatment guide, or cure. This page explains how to read results without over-reading them, and why deliberate restraint makes the insight you do get more trustworthy for both curious readers and healthcare professionals.
Reading results without over-reading them
Confidence indicators, association-not-causation framing, and clear scope are built into every output — not disclaimers bolted on afterward.
Microbiome science is powerful and genuinely incomplete, and honest interpretation holds both truths at once. A result shows a pattern in your sample relative to a reference cohort; it does not establish cause, predict outcomes, or replace clinical care. We build these limits into the output itself through confidence overlays and scoped language, so the reading you take away matches the evidence that supports it. Where a signal is uncertain, we say so.
Composition, diversity, and ecological context — patterns, compared with reference cohorts.
It does not diagnose conditions, measure cause and effect, or predict outcomes.
Every output carries a confidence indicator, and exploratory areas are labeled as such.
Explore results you can trust because their limits are visible
When scope, confidence, and cohort context are shown openly, you can act on microbiome insight thoughtfully — and know exactly where to bring a healthcare professional in.
As methods and references improve, interpretations are framed as current best context, not fixed facts.
