Clinical Escalation & Incidental Findings Policy
This policy explains, in plain terms, what VAMS does and does not do when it comes to clinical results, medical diagnosis, escalation, and so-called "incidental findings". It applies to everyone who purchases or uses a VAMS microbiome product or report. Please read it alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
If there is any inconsistency between this policy and a statement made in marketing material, this policy prevails.
In Short
VAMS reports are educational and wellness-oriented — they are NOT diagnostic.
VAMS does NOT provide clinical results, a medical diagnosis, or a medical opinion.
VAMS does NOT operate a clinical escalation, triage, or monitoring service.
VAMS does NOT screen your sample for disease and will NOT return "incidental medical findings" in the clinical sense.
VAMS will NOT contact you with a diagnosis or a health alert.
If a result raises questions, please consult a qualified healthcare professional.
VAMS does NOT monitor for, detect, or respond to medical emergencies. In an emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately.
1. Nature of VAMS Reports
VAMS BioInnovation Private Limited ("VAMS", "the Company", "we") provides microbiome-related products and reports that describe features of a microbial community from a self-collected sample. The outputs are informational and wellness-oriented. They are intended to help you learn about and reflect on your microbiome — not to establish, confirm, or exclude any medical condition.
A VAMS report does not diagnose, rule out, treat, prevent, cure, or predict any disease, disorder, or health condition. A microbiome score, level, band, or descriptor in a VAMS report is not a clinical result and is not a substitute for testing, examination, or advice provided by a qualified healthcare professional.
VAMS is not a laboratory, healthcare provider, diagnostic provider, or medical-device manufacturer, and does not hold regulatory approval to provide a diagnostic service.
2. VAMS Does Not Provide Clinical Results or Diagnosis
The information in a VAMS report is generated for educational and wellness purposes. It is not reviewed, interpreted, or issued as a clinical result. In particular:
We do not produce a medical diagnosis, a clinical interpretation, or a treatment recommendation.
We do not certify that your sample is "normal", "abnormal", "healthy", or "unhealthy" in a medical sense.
Any thresholds, ranges, or descriptors shown are wellness reference points for general understanding, not clinical reference ranges used for diagnosis.
Decisions about your health — including whether to seek testing, care, or treatment — should be made with a qualified healthcare professional, who can consider your full history and circumstances.
3. No Screening for Disease; No "Incidental Findings"
VAMS microbiome outputs are not screened for disease. Our analysis characterises microbial community features for educational purposes; it is not designed, validated, or intended to look for, detect, or flag any medical condition, pathogen of clinical concern, cancer marker, genetic risk, or other clinical signal.
Because we do not perform clinical screening, VAMS does not generate or return "incidental medical findings" in the clinical sense — that is, unexpected findings of potential medical significance that a diagnostic service might be expected to identify and act on. The absence of any such flag in a VAMS report must not be read as reassurance that no medical condition is present. Equally, an unusual-looking wellness result must not be read as evidence that a medical condition is present.
If something in your report prompts a health question or concern, the appropriate step is to discuss it with a qualified healthcare professional. Do not delay seeking care because a VAMS report did or did not show a particular result.
4. No Clinical Escalation, Triage, or Monitoring Service
VAMS does not operate a clinical escalation, triage, or health-monitoring service. This means:
We do not review your results for signs that you may need medical attention.
We do not monitor your data over time for changes that might indicate a health issue.
We will not contact you with a diagnosis, a health warning, a "call your doctor" alert, or any similar clinical notification.
We do not refer, book, escalate, or hand off your case to any clinician, clinic, hospital, or health service.
Any communications you receive from VAMS relate to your order, your account, your report delivery, or (where you have separately and specifically consented) product updates — never a clinical assessment of your health.
5. What To Do If Your Result Raises Questions
If a VAMS report prompts questions or concern, please consult a qualified healthcare professional (for example, your doctor or another appropriately qualified practitioner). You may wish to share your report with them for context, while making clear that it is a wellness report and not a diagnostic result.
VAMS staff cannot and will not provide medical advice, interpret your report clinically, or tell you whether you should seek care. If you contact us with a health question, we will direct you back to a qualified healthcare professional.
6. Medical Emergencies
VAMS does not monitor for, detect, or respond to medical emergencies, and cannot provide urgent or emergency assistance of any kind.
If you are experiencing a medical emergency, or you are worried about urgent symptoms, contact your local emergency services immediately, or go to your nearest emergency department. Do not wait for, or rely on, anything in a VAMS report or communication.
7. Future Regulated Services
VAMS may, in the future, choose to introduce a regulated diagnostic or clinical service. If we ever do so:
That service would be separate from the educational and wellness products described in this policy.
It would be offered only if it has been appropriately validated and lawfully authorised for that purpose by the relevant authorities in the applicable jurisdiction (Ministry of Corporate Affairs; Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology; Data Protection Board of India; Department of Consumer Affairs and Central Consumer Protection Authority; and, depending on the product or claim, CDSCO, FSSAI, relevant State authorities and other competent regulators.).
It would be governed by its own separate terms, consents, and safeguards, which would apply specifically to that service.
Nothing in this policy should be read as a statement that VAMS currently offers, or is authorised to offer, any diagnostic, clinical, or regulated medical service. Until any such service is validated, authorised, and separately launched, all VAMS reports remain educational and wellness-oriented and non-diagnostic.
8. Your Responsibilities
By using a VAMS product or report, you acknowledge and agree that:
You will not treat a VAMS report as a clinical result, diagnosis, or medical advice.
You will not make, delay, or avoid any health decision solely on the basis of a VAMS report.
You will consult a qualified healthcare professional for any medical concern.
You understand that VAMS does not screen for disease, does not escalate or triage, and does not monitor for or respond to emergencies.
9. Contact
